Some receiving antenna equipment

Used with very short Beverage or loops on lower bands or small loop / vertical dipole for higher bands.   Impedance transformer/ choke / bandpass / high IP(3)/d.r preamplifier/ splitter. v. 1.0 2018

  • Impedance transformer depending on the antenna currently used. Very easy and quick replacement of the internal transformer
  • bans-pass filter raises the dynamic range of the whole set when at the same time we transmitting on other bands or in cases of other strong RF signals outside the band.
  • Preamplifier. The main function of the preamplifier is not to amplify the week signal (except for higher bands with small 1.2 mtr dia. loop or short vertical dipole antennas). The push-pull preamplifier compensates the attenuation of the bandpass-filter, splitter, but above all, compensates attenuation of a very long coax run to the shack. Dynamic range and third-order intercept points are very important. Unfortunately, there is no compromise for the preamplifier even for such a simple set like this one. It is better not to use a pre-amplifier than to use one with the weak parameters mentioned above. (high IP(3)/d.range).
RDF / MDF is most important for a reception on lower HF, not the gain.
  • Splitter: Feed the signal to a very long coaxial cable. going to the shack (600 - 1260 ft) and to a short coax going to the remote SDR receiver installed very close to the antenna feed point. Splitter was also used for tests and experiments. The pictures show the set in the development phase in "for measurement`s" and configuration.
